Al Barakani calls for alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sheikh Sultan Al Barakani, called on the Security Council, the United Nations, the permanent members, and the international community to redouble efforts to get Yemen out of this situation and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

During his meeting with the European Union’s ambassador to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, Al Barakani pointed out that the Houthi militia has disavowed the implementation of the Stockholm agreement on Al Hudaydah, reneged on all covenants, and failed to implement all decisions and agreements.

Al Barakani reaffirmed that the political leadership, represented by his Excellency President Abd Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, is keen to ensure a comprehensive and just peace based on the three references and UN resolutions, especially resolution 2216. He appreciated the efforts made in helping and supporting Yemen.
Legitimacy: No to jumping on Stockholm agreement

Our permanent representative to the Security Council, Abdullah Al Saadi, stressed that the continued intransigence and the Houthi’s stalling in implementing its obligations under the Sweden agreement, which was signed under the auspices of the United Nations in December 2018. This stalling affirms that the Houthis are not serious in achieving peace, which is a challenge to the efforts of the United Nations and the international community.

Al-Saadi stressed in a speech before the UN Security Council that any attempt to avoid the implementation of the agreement will not serve the desired political process, but rather threaten the path of achieving peace in its entirety. He reaffirmed the consistent position of the Yemeni government on the importance of implementing the Stockholm agreement with all its components, especially the implementation of  Hodaidah agreement in relation to the local security forces and the local authority, the withdrawal of the militia from the ports and the city of Hodaidah, and opening the humanitarian corridors.

Arab Parliament supports peace with its three references

The Parliament welcomed the Riyadh agreement signed between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council on November 5, 2019. It condemned the continuation of the Houthi militia’s looting of humanitarian aid, as the militia seized and looted 440 trucks of food aid, medicine, medical supplies and fuel for hospitals in the governorates of  Hodaidah , Ibb and Sana’a, since the arrival of the International Observer Committee to Hodaidah .
